Manga – Skip Beat!

May 9, 2007

I’ve recently — a few months ago, started reading Skip Beat! It’s a Shoujo manga, but a good one!

The story focuses on our main character, a teenage girl by the name of Mogami Kyoko. She followed her long time love Shoutaro (known as Sho to the rest of the world) to Tokyo when he left his small home town Kyoto to make it big as a rock star. He became very successful when his debut single made it to number one on the Oricon charts.

Kyoko finds out eventually that her beloved Shou-chan was just using her which unleashes her evil unforgiving side. Her once completely kind personality takes a strange twist and plunges into darkness. She joins the show business world in order to get her revenge against him. She even goes so far as to get a complete makeover with her new resolve. But will she manage it?

Here’s a manga scan I colored in of Kyoko after her make over.

It’s an intriguing and comedy packed series. So far, I’m up to Volume 17, skipped a few unscanlated Volumes along the way, but whatever.

Yup, one of my favorites, too. I like Kyoko’s “quirks”, such as the little demons and her ren dolls. I like the pic you made. I think my favorite manga pic of kyoko was the pic when she was looking for a vase for her rose with ren and his manager. Her expression was soo cute! What other manga do you read? Maybe I can try them, too.
